“Most Likely to Pray” was the superlative award I received at my graduation when I obtained my degree in ministry. What can I say, I get it from my momma! (LOL) No, I really do get it from her. Praying was the very first thing I learned about God because I always saw my mother down on her knees praying. This vision of her praying is an everlasting imprint in my heart; especially now that I understand why her praying was more than just her kneeling by her bed with her eyes closed and her hands folded, but that she was communicating with God about EVERYTHING.
This week’s scripture verses are included in Apostle Paul’s final written instructions to the church of Thessalonians. In this exhortation (a message that strongly encourages or urges someone to do something), Apostle Paul found it necessary to encourage and applaud the Thessalonians for their constant love and zeal for Jesus. But he knew it was even more imperative to warn them to be prepared for the second coming of Jesus; to keep their hearts genuine and sacred for His return. Their prayers would keep them intertwined with God’s truth and not be misled by false messages and teachings.
I have learned that the issues of life really do flow from our heart; (Proverbs 4:23) but I am so glad that we no longer need a priest to intercede on our behalf. When the veil was torn from top to bottom, this gave us direct access to be in the presence of our Father. (Matthew 27:51) We have been given an opportunity to have a personal relationship with the One who created us and knows us better than we know ourselves. Praying builds our faith and confidence. (I like to refer to it as GODfidence) It helps us to grow and mature spiritually. Prayer helps us learn how to always give thanks in everything for this is not always easy to do amid sorrow, chaos, and disruption in our lives. Our prayers can shift the atmosphere and cause things to happen. (James 5:16)
My dear, be intentional about making your life a prayer (WHEW! I really felt that) Yes, I know you may be praying about something or for someone and it seems like nothing is happening. Believe me, it is! Ponder this (as I am reminded on our prayer call this morning) “NO” is an answer too! God hears every one of your prayers and He is the ONLY One who knows what is truly best for us. Even if the answer to your prayer is “NO”.
Love You Lots,
Michelle
P.S. Don’t worry about the “NO” because He has something greater in store for you!
